Ramayana stories - Show mercy on the enemy & stand by what is Right

When war was decleared between Rama and Ravana , Vibhishana the younger brother of Ravana and also the vice council of Lanka island had suggested Ravana to leave Rama’s wife sita.

 He says, if we lost the war it would be end of the demon race.
He was bold enough and says ravana of whatever he is doing is not correct. He was an intelligent and extremely good person who always votes for righteous situation. He also said, it is not correct to kidnap the wife of Rama to satisfy his ego.

Ravana gets hurt by listening to the words of vibishana and accused him for being disloyal to him.

Vibishana also says, this time hanuman will set fire to the entire palace before which it is better to leave sita
Ravana says, if someone would have said these words I would have killed him on the spot. It is only because you I am leaving you without harming.

Then immediately vibishana rushes to Rama to join Rama in rescuing sita.

When vibishana came to rama, one of the vanarana troop informs rama that a demon named vibishana came to visit him.
He came in peace seeking place of safety. Hanuman also says that he is an honest person he disagrees with his brother Ravana. By hearing to Hanuman words Rama accepts vibhishana in his group and promises him that he would be the next king of Lanka after the death of Ravana.

Then war had started between Rama and Ravana. They were fighting with each other in the battle field. Rama the powerful and strong person had destroyed all the weapons and protective shell of Ravana. He stood all alone in the battlefield without any protection. Rama got a great chance to kill ravana at that moment because he is all alone without any weapons with him. He advised ravana to go back for the day and return the next day to fight against him. Since, it is not dharma to fight against the person who does not have any army with him.

From this lesson we can learn that we have to stand and give justice where everything is right even though if our father or brother did anything wrong we have to be courage’s to fight against them and tell them what they are doing is wrong.

Ramayana stories - kakeyi requests her two boons from Dasaratha

Ayodhya, a great kingdom ruled by the wonderful king Dasaratha. He had three princesses named kausalya, kaikeyi & sumitra. All the people in his kingdom lived happily under his rule. But the king Dasaratha was unhappy for not having children. One day a sage visited his kingdom and suggested him to undertake “putrakameshti yagna”.  While carrying out the Yagna a magical form emerged from the holy fire and gave a sweetened keer to Dasaratha and said to offer it to his beloved wife’s.
