Ramayana Stories (Part -1)

After Rama became proficient in reading, hunting etc came from gurukulam to his home. Everyone in the kingdom was happy to see the four brothers. The four brothers where very courageous and had great respect for the people of Ayodhya. One fine day the sage vishwamitra came to Ayodhya to meet Dasaratha. He had welcomed him with great respect and provided hospitality for him. Then Vishwamitra told the reason that he came to meet him. He said that an evil demon is disturbing them while performing yagna. So, he asked to send Rama along with him to protect them. First by listening to these words Dasaratha felt unhappy and was in a dilemma because he is the loving son of Dasaratha. So after thinking for a while he insisted Rama to go along with Vishwamitra. Then Rama was accompanied by Laxmana took the blessing of his father and stepped forward with vishwamitra. The two brothers followed vishwamitra.

They walked for miles and reached Dandaka forest. As they find no person on the way so they asked vishwamitra the reason for this. So he said that a rakshi named thataki along with her son maricha was eating all the people in the town. So the people are feared of her and vacated the village. Tataki was very dangerous demon who has the strength of 1000 elephants. No one till now had dared to enter the forest because of her fear. While walking they heard some danagerous voices. The voice is none another than tataki who came in front of Rama. Then vishwamitra ordered Rama to kill Tataki.  Rama with his arrow spotted tataki heart and killed her at one shot. Tataki fell dead on ground. Then seeing this vishwamitra felt happy and gave a powerful divine weapon to both the brothers. Then they all went to vishwamitra siddashrama. All the hermits in the ashram requested Rama to guard them from maricha and subhaksha while performing the Yagna. Then the hermits started the Yagna and everything was going on happily.

On the last day i.e. 7th day of the sacrifice the demons maricha and subhaksha came near the ashrama making some terrible noises where the hermits are performing the Yagna. Then Rama took out the divine weapon which was blessed and given by vishwamitra and killed subhaksha. While another arrow was thrown on maricha he fell into the sea. The sages were very happy and blessed the two brothers after which they came back to ayodhya happily.

From this lesson we can learn, we should never give up anything or fear of anything. Here dasaratha has feared of his son but gave value to the words of vishwamitra and sent his loving son to kill the demon. We have to fight courageously then only we can be the winners.
